Reverse DNS lookup is the process of using DNS (Domain Name System) to translate IP addresses to hostnames. Reverse DNS is the opposite of forwarding DNS, which is used to translate human-readable hostnames to IP addresses.
Reverse DNS delegation for IPv4 is based on octet boundaries, or /8, /16, and /24 reverse zones. For example, if you have delegated IPv4/22 blocks from IDNIC, you must register four /24 reverse zones.
